REFERENCE: There is a book on the History of Oneida, NY, dated 1896, in the library at Waterville, NY. One page 269 under the heading, "Conger Family," there is an account written by a man with the last name, Wager."Conger, Daniel, was born in the town of Sangerfield, and has been a resident of Sangerfield and the village of Waterville all his life. He is and has been for forty-eith [sic] years a dealer in hops. He was connected with the promotion and building of the Utica and Chanango railroad, and is at present one of its directors. He has been a director of the National Bank for thirty years, of which he has been vice-president since 1884. In 1851 he married Polly Janes by whom he had one son, De Witt, who is a resident of Waterville. She died in 1884, and Mr. Conger married his present wife, Keokee Smith, in 1892."
