OBITUARY: John P. Conger - Accountant
HOPKINTON, [NY] -- The funeral for John P. Conger, 41, Route 72, formerly of St. Regis Falls, [NY] will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Free Methodist Church, St. Regis Falls, with the Rev. Robert Billings and Bishop Dale Nicholson officiating. Spring burial will be in Mound Hill Cemetery, Nicholville.Mr. Conger died late Tuesday at Canton-Postdam Hospital, Potsdam, after suffering a heart attach.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Anderson Funeral Home, St. Regis Falls.
Mr. Conger was a substitute teacher from 1981 to 1983 at St. Regis Falls High School and worked at Champlain Valley Federal Savings & Loan, Malone, from 1984 to 1987. He was a senior accountant and office manager at the Canton office of Dragon, Benware & Co.
Born Jan. 6, 1959, in Potsdam, son of Donald and Phyllis Woods Conger, he was a graduate of St. Regis Falls Central School and received a bachelor's degree in finance and statistical analysis from Syracuse University. While at SU, he was a member of Sigma Alpha Mu Eta.
He married Maria Crump on March 16, 1984, in Annapolis, MD. They attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Potsdam.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Surviving besides his parents of St. Regis Falls and his wife are a son, John W. of Hopkinton; two daughters, Rebeccca and Elisabeth Conger, Hopkinton; his maternal grandmother, Helen Puryer, St. Regis Falls, a brother, Donald R., Jr. Collegeville, PA; nine nieces and nephews, and several aunts and uncles.
His patrernal grandparents, Wilbert and Clara Palmer Conger, and his maternal grandfather, Quentin H. Woods died before him.
Donations may be made to the St. Regis Fire and Rescue Squad.
