OBITUARY: Nyal Dokken Conger - Foreign Service Officer
Nyal Dokken Conger, 87, a former Foreign Service officer and a WAVES veteran of World War II, died of pancreatic cancer April 21 [2001] at home in Somerset.Mrs. Conger was born in Thief River Falls, Minn. She graduated from George Washington University.
After four years of wartime service with the WAVES, she joined the State Department and served as a Foreign Service officer in Germany, Iran and Zimbabwe. Later she accompanied her husband, John Conger, to Foreign Service posts in Switzerland and Colombia. Their marriage ended in divorce.
For 31 years, Mrs. Conger had lived in Somerset. She was an enthusiastic bridge player and a docent at the Society of the Cincinnati.
Survivors include a sister, Corlan Dokken Glaws of Washington; and a brother, James Dokken of Salem, Ore.
