OBITUARY: ARLEN M. ATKINSON Arlen M. Atkinson, 6l, Tiltonsville, [OH] died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1998 at Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling. He was born Sept. 22, 1936 at Clarington, a son of the late Alton A. and Sarah Henthorn Atkinson.
He was a retired employee of the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. Yorkville plant and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy C. Wells Atkinson.
Surviving are a son, Arlen A. Atkinson of Tiltonsville; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received today, 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 102 Main St., Tiltonsville, where services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with Floyd Atkinson officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry, VFW Post 4811 will hold military graveside services on Friday in the funeral home.

Immediate families attended. Friends attended the afternoon reception.The bride wore a dress designed and made by the mother of the bridegroom. It was a white sheath of silk ribbon knit. She wore a small clip hat with an off the face veil, and a corsage of pink carnations. She carried a small white Bible.
The newlyweds are residing with her father.
The bride graduated from Martins Ferry High School in 1959.
Mr. Atkinson graduated from school in 1954 and served four years with the U.S. Air Force. He is employed at the Yorkville Plant of the Wheeling Steel Corp.

Linda Henry, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Roy Valentine, brother-in-law of the groom, was best man. Seating guests were John Henthorn, brother of the bride; Thomas Valentine, nephew of the groom. A reception followed in the church social room.
Mrs. Brooks, a 1969 graduate of Shadyside High School, attended Columbus Technical Institute where she is employed as an administrative secretary. Her husband, a graduate of Washington Courthouse High School in 1965, was graduated from Bliss College. He is employed by Wilson Freight Co., South Charleston, Ohio. After a wedding trip to Michigan, the couple will reside at 4216 Scott Court South, Columbus.

OBITUARY: Phil Conger Services Held at St. Marks
Funeral services for Phillip Garner Conger, 52, of Tucson, Arizona were held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 19, 1971 at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Pender, Nebraska. He died April 15, 1971 at 8 p.m. at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Tucson, Arizona.The Rev. Dreil Bernhardson, officiated at the military services. Hymns were sung by Mrs. Dreil Bernhardson, accompanied by Mrs. Marie Vanderwerf on the organ.
Interment was made in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Pender, with Darrell Thibault, Paul Murray, Ralph Anderson, Allen Martens, David Mayberry and Marvin Zobel as pallbearers.
Phillip Garner Conger, son of Elias and Olive Conger, was born in Neligh, Nebraska on June 7, 1918, where he spent his earlier years before moving to Pender, Nebraska with his parents in 1937. He attended school in both Neligh and Pender.
He enlisted in the Coast Artillery and was stationed in the San Francisco, area at Fort Presidio until after the World War II break-out. Phillip served in the Aleutian Islands and the European Theatre, Battle of the Bulge, Normandy Landing in France and other engagements and was discharged on July 30, 1945.
Phillip was married to Carol Mae Vollers on June 6, 1946 in the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Pender. To this union was born one daughter, Barbara Ann.
He helped organize the Veterans of Foreigh Wars Post 6928 and was their first commander and has been a continued charter member.
Besides being very active in the V.F.W. he belonged to Pender Volunteer Fire Dept. and held the office of Secretary for a number of years. With a great love for the outdoors, he belonged to the Sportman's Club and participated in all of the fishing, hunting and boating activities.
He was associated with Vollers & Sons, he was associated with the Farmers Creamery and the Automatic Equipment Company.
While living in Tucson, Arizona, he was associated with Bogard's G.M.C. as a salesman until his health failed.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Mae, one daughter, Barbara Ann Wingett, one granddaughter, Lyn Marie Wingett and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elias G. Conger.
