OBITUARY: Tex Conger
Tex Conger, born 9 September, 1938, passed away at age 62, at his home December 20, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Jeannette, and his four children, his sixteen grandchildren, mother, three brothers and four sisters.Tex was a native of Tacoma, WA where he and his wife raised their four children. An extraordinary achiever, he studied for and passed his Certified Public Accountants exam in one attempt at age 20. He is one of the few people in Washington state history to ever have done so. Tex was a well-recognized landmark in Tacoma's business landscape. He established and ran his own accounting firm for over 35 years. In recent years, he also offered financial planning and investment services as a registered investment advisor. He was honored as one of the top producers in the nation for his company on an almost annual basis.
As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Tex devoted much of his life to serving others. The members of his youth Sunday School class, now grown and with children of their own, look back with fond memories on the times they spent with him and the lessons he taught them. Tex served in many roles through the years while working in the church's lay clergy. He was a well-loved bishop in the Key Center area. Many have benefitted by his constant concern for those around him.
His final day was spent with his wife, helping give a Christmas party for inmates at the Women's Correctioal Facility in Purdy, WA.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 26, 2000 at 11 a.m. at the LDS Chapel located 8002 Dorotich St., Gig Harbor, WA 98335.
