The editor of our local paper recently sent me a copy of the account of the Conger picnic in Janesville. It was most interesting. I have passed it along to the remaining members of our family who also enjoyed it.Obviously, there are at least a few Congers that you have missed. To the best of my knowledge, there are only two families in Kansas. We have never met together, although my father knew them before his death in 1962. They live on a dairy farm and the town is Iola, Kansas. (See Carl Clarence Conger)
I am the last Conger in our family as we have no boys to carry on the name, only two daughters. My mother, Mrs. Lauren E. Conger, is presently living in Yates Center but will soon move to a retirement home in Hutchinson.
My grandfather, Fred H. Conger, moved to Yates Center in the early 1900's and operated a lumber business until his death. He moved from Illinois to Missouri and then on to Kansas. I know he had some relatives in the Chicago area as I recall visiting them during the World's Fari in 1934. His nephew (my father's cousin) was a doctor and lived in Oak Park, IL.
