In response to submitting his data for the book (CFA I), Omar Dwight Conger, III wrote, "You might be interested in an odd bit of information: On the way to Okinawa (March 1945) I met a man named, Lester Raymond Conger. He was mildly surprised at my name and said that his brother bore the same name. He also mentioned that his brother looked strongly Indian; so much so that he would feel at home on any reservation. He stated that their home was Lapeer, Michigan. Some years later when I entered a subscription to the "Desert Magazine," my subscription was first listed as a re-newal for an, Omar D. Conger, in Fenton, Michigan. They are perhaps the same person.[Note: Omar Dwight Conger's recollection of his meeting with Lester Raymond Conger is not quite correct. The brother of Lester Raymond Conger of Lapeer Co., MI was, Omar David Conger. He was born in July of 1925, the same year as Omar Dwight Conger. They were 7th cousins, with their common ancestor being, John Belconger.
The Omar D. Conger who subsribed to the same magazine as, Omar Dwight, might have been Omar David Conger, born 3 Apr 1881, who was born and died at Davison, Genesee Co., MI. Fenton, MI is in Genesee county Michigan.

Anyhow, it's a good theory. There is also Indian blood on my wife's mother's side of the family. It shows up rather strongly in our young son, Ian."
If there is "Indian Blood" in these two lines, it would have to go back to John Belconger's 2nd wife, Mary Cawood. Omar Dwight, b. 1925, is descended from Job, b. 1694 and Omar David, b. 1925, is from Joseph, b. 1692. [This paragraph was probably written by Maxine Leonard. They worked together for only six months before he died on 6 Jan 1969 at Pleasantville, NY. His widow, Marion, sent his files to Mrs. Leonard. Included were the booklets "Job A. Conger and his Descendants," by Ivan Albert Conger and the story of "Norman Hurd Conger," by Roger N. Conger.

OBITUARY: The New York Times, Jan. 6, 1969
Beach Conger, for 30 years a reporter, foreign correspondent and editor with the New York Herald Tribune, died today at the headquarters of the Reader's Digest, where he was a book editor. He was 56 years old.Mr. Conger, who had suffered from a heart ailment for several years, collapsed in an elevator and was taken to the magazine's medical office where he was pronounced dead. He joined the magazine in 1966 as editorial manager of the general books division and was an editor of its major books. His home was at, 31 Clark Street, Pleasantville, [NY].
Seymour Beach Conger 3d, who did not use his first name, was born March 1, 1912 in Berlin. His father was chief of the Associated Press bureau there, and his early schooling was in Germany. He went to high school in Michigan and was graduated cum laude from the University of Michigan in 1932.
Mr. Conger joined World Letters Inc., which prepared material for use in geography and social sciences classes, in 1933 and in three years with the organization visited 89 countries on six continents.
He joined The Herald Tribune as a reporter-rewrite man and became a foreign correspondent in 1939. In November of that year, he was forced by the Nazis to leave Germany becaused he telephoned a dispatch that said the German Army High Command was resisting Hitler's demands that certain neutral countries be invaded.
After making Paris his headquarters, Mr. Conger was caught in Amsterdam on May 10, 1940, when the Germans invaded the Low Countries and was prevented from leaving the Netherlands for two months.
In a dispatch filed the day of the invasion, Mr. Conger vividly described his unsuccessful attempt to drive from Amsterdam to The Hague, in which he got caught in the crossfire between the Dutch defenders of Amsterdam and the Nazi invaders.
