BIRTH: Birth Certificate
Daniel Bruce and David Dee Lockwood do not have birth certificates. Gibson
County, Indiana has no record of either of their births. The Health Department
of the State of Indiana at Indianapolis has the following. Daniel David Dee
Lockwood b. 12 Nov. 1931 at Francisco in Gibson County, the child of Guy O. and
Dora Mae (Swartz) Lockwood. They also have a birth certificate for Harold Lee
Lockwood b. 12 Nov. 1931 at Francisco in Gibson County the child of Guy O.
Lockwood and Dora Mae (Swartz) Lockwood. Such a person was never born.

Before my mother died, my twin told me, that she told him that his middle name
was Dee and not Dow. My mother thought that my dad wanted him named after Dow
Parkinson, a relative, and sort of a shady character. When, the doctor came by
and asked for his name she said, "David Dee" and she never told my dad nor
anyone else. Therefore, my twin went by the name of David Dow.

When David went into the Navy in July 1950 and had to have a birth certificate
the State sent him one with his name David Dee Lockwood. I never found this out
until Aug. of 1978.

I also sent a letter to the State asking for a copy of the birth certificate
for Daniel Bruce Lockwood and they sent me one. Why the state did this is
something I can't understand because they had no birth certificate for either
of us.

In 1995 while at the annex in Princeton, Indiana doing genealogy I saw a sign
which said, "Birth Certificate $3. I decided to get a copy of my twin brother's
certificate and this is when I found they had no record. The lady immediately
called the State and that is when we were told that the birth certificates were
as indicated above. Each department had to call a supervisor until we were
talking to the head "honcho" at the State level. The lady told him that Daniel
Bruce Lockwood b. 12 Nov. 1931 at Francisco, IN, the son of Guy O. and Dora Mae
(Swartz) Lockwood, was standing in front of her.

Well, he wanted to speak to me. I identified myself and told him that I had
been issued a birth certificate in 1950 by the State which he found
incomprehensible. He wanted me to go to all kinds of trouble to get the birth
certificates in Indianapolis changed. I refused. I told him that I had a Social
Security card (original); a high school diploma, a diploma from Indiana State;
a diploma from Indiana University; a discharge from the U.S. Army; Veteran's
insurance policy from the government; driver's license; retirement papers from
the State of Michigan; Income tax records; a passport issued by the passport
office; marriage certificate; a will; living trust; deeds; and a birth
certificate with the seal of the State of Indiana as proof who I was. If he
wanted to change it and make a birth certificate it would be O.K. with me. He
said, "That couldn't be done." I said, does the Board of Health lose birth
certificates? He said, "No", which I responded then they must make them up
whenever they want to since I have one. They weren't very happy with me. But,
why should I pay money to get them to make me a birth certificate?

Later, I wrote and got a copy of Harold Lee Lockwood's birth certificate - a
person who never existed. And, last year I tried to get a birth certificate for
me and was told that no such person existed.

If I known about Harold Lee years ago I could have taken out an insurance
policy on his life for few million and then have him disappear. All, I would
have had to do back in 1950 is get his birth certificate; a social security
card; work a few places during the summer using his name showing that he paid
in to the F.I.C.A. Get a passport and go on a cruise except it would be me -
pay a ship pilot to pick me up as I jump overboard and collect the millions. I
wouldn't have done it but believe it would have worked. Now, I am writing a
story about such an episode.
