BIOGRAPHY: The parents of Gilbert Vaughn died when he was 14. He and his 10 year old brother worked for a hub mill making barrel staves to support 4 younger brothers and sisters.

He got his education by correspondence courses and was employed as an engineer for 31 years with Sinclair Oil Company in Oklahoma.
