OBITUARY:
Eugene Lee Conger, 84, of Parkersburg, [WV] passed away Nov. 2, 2014.He was born March 29, 1930, in Parkersburg, the son of the late Dale and Anna Belle Randolph Conger Sr.
He was a 1948 graduate of Parkersburg High School and had worked for Kauffman-Lattimer Wholesale Drug Company for 25 years. He began preaching Sept. 20, 1953, with his first sermons in Miami, Fla. He had preached for 143 congregations of the Church of Christ, and had served full time for the churches at Rockport, Sandyville, Mason, and Elizabeth. He had wrote many articles for three religious journals, The Bible Herald, The Gospel Truths, and The West Virginia Christian, as well as different newspapers including the Wirt County Journal. He had worked part-time with the Busch Funeral Home in Elizabeth for a time.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Betty Bibbee of Vienna; one niece; one great-niece; and one great-nephew. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dale Conger Jr.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 6, at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg, with Evangelist Don Cooper officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 5, at the funeral home.
