Conger of 1419 Leahy Avenue, Pawhuska, Oklahoma, was born 22 Sep 1903 at
Bristow, Indian Territory, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Lorain B. Conger.He stated, "My parents came to Oklahoma at the opening of the Cherokee Strip,
from Kansas. Father ran in the Strip Race, found land he had previously
picked, soonered, returned to Kansas, then brought Mother by horse and buggy to
Bristow. Grand-father Robert M. Conger was one of the delegates to the first
legislative convention in Guthrie. Later on when Oklahoma was admitted to the
Union he was one of the three delegates to present the 47th star to the Union
Flag at Philadelphia."

OBITUARY: CONGER SERVICES - January 12, 1990
Private graveside services for Dr. Robert W. Conger, 86, Lawrence, [KS] will be
Saturday in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lawrence [KS].Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Presbyterian Manor. Dr. Conger
died Thursday at Presbyterian Manor.He was born Sept. 22, 1903, in Bristow, Okla. He grew up in Bristow and was
graduated from Bristow High School. He graduated in 1928 from the University of
Missouri at Kansas City Dental College, where he was a member of Delta Sigma
Delta fraternity. He was also a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon honorary
fraternity at the university.Dr. Conger was a dental surgeon in Pawhuska, Okla., from 1928 until he retired
in 1969. He served in the Army during World War II from 1942 until he received
a medical discharge in 1945. He was discharged from the Army Reserves on April
1, 1953, at the rank of major.He moved from Pawhuska to Lawrence in 1984.
Dr. Conger was a member of First Christian Church, American Legion and Rotary
Club, all in Pawhuska. He was also a member of the Oklahoma and the American
dental associations and had held offices in both associations.He was married to Rosetta H. Hall on June 4, 1926, in Fort Smith, Ark. She died
April 6, 1987.Survivors include a daughter, Virginia Wigington, Lawrence; three
grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.Friends may call from 3 p.m. today until noon Saturday at Rumsey Funeral Home.
