October 29, 1948, marked the closing of the life of Mrs. Martha Jane Conger Fritts, who was born in Arkansas on April 17, 1854. In early childhood her family journeyed to Crittenden county, Kentucky. In those days travelling was slow and her father and brother died on the way.

Aunt Jane, as she was familiarly known by her neighbors, united with the Crooked Creek Baptist Church in 1871, which made 77 years of service.

During her active life she was faithful to her church and modest and unassuming in methods of living and worship. He black bonnets that she invariable wore to church were symbols of meekness.

She was married on November 1877, to Phillip Fritts, who died in 1896. To this union were born two children: Mrs. Lillie Paris, of Repton and O.W. Fritts, of Crooked Creek Community, with whom she lived. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Mrs. Fritts lived 94 years, 6 months, and 12 days. Then the cloak of life was folded and she went out to meet her Maker."

Pleasant C.. He said, 'Cordie.' Sylvia asked if it was Cordelia, and he
laughed and said 'yes' as if he hadn't thought of the full name in a long time.
So Delia was the nickname."
