OBITUARY: MRS. FRED NORTH DIED THIS MORNING
This community was saddened this morning by news of the death of Mrs. Fred North, 74 years old, citizen of Neosho since her early childhood, at Reynolds hospital at 1:30 o'clock this morning after a month's illness following a fall in which she was injured.The accident occurred at the Congregational church early Sunday morning, June 6, [1937] when Mrs. North had gone there to arrange flowers, decorating the church for morning services, which had been her custom for more than 30 years. In reaching from the church steps for a spray of spirea, which grows nearby, she fell a distance of eight feet or more. She was removed to the hospital where her injuries were pronounced serious but not necessarily critical, and hopes for her immediate recovery were held. However, complications developed which were impossible to combat, and for a week she has lain at the point of death.
Funeral services are to be held at 10:30 o'clock tomorrow morning at the Congregational church, the Rev. John W. Moore, pastor of the First Methodist church and a lifelong friend of the family, to be in charge. He will be assisted by the pastor, the Rev. Harry A. Weaver. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
Mrs. North before her marriage was Miss Adeline M. Conger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry H. Conger, and was born in Wisconsin [sic]. She came to Newton county as a child about 65 years ago.

Fred North, resident of Newton county, [MO] practically all of his life, died at 4:15 o'clock this morning at McDonald Hospital, death resulting from an attack of pneumonia.Mr. North was born in Wisconsin, and came to Missouri when three years old. He was in his seventy-ninth year. He is survived by six sons and five daughters, on one brother, William, of Berkley, Calif. Several grand children and great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon (Dec. 17, 1941). The services were held at the home of a son, Dick North, Oak Ridge Drive, and burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery here.

OBITUARY: FRED NORTH DIES AT McDONALD HOSPITAL
Fred North, 79 years old, one of Neosho's best known citizens, died at the McDonald hospital, [Neosho, MO] at 4;30 o'clock Tuesday morning [16 Dec 1941]. Although he had been in failing health for more than a year, he had been critically ill for only about a week.Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the home of a son, Richard North, Neosho Heights, Rev. John W. Moore of Joplin, former Neosho minister saying the rites, and burial under the direction of Bigham mortuary, was made in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
Mr. North was born in Wisconsin in 1862, second son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. North, and came to this county with his parents when he was three years old. Most of his life has been spent in Neosho. He was married to Miss Addie Conger, and to them were born six sons and six daughters, all of whom, with the exception of one daughter who died years ago, survive him. Surviving also is one brother, W. H. North of Monrovia, Cal., a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Unfailing energy, hard work and sterling honesty were dominating factors in Mr. North's entire life. He was a farmer, stock man and business man, and had done more to build up a certain important business center of Neosho than any other man of his generation. He had a deep, abiding kindness of heart known most surely by friends near to him who have felt its generous impulses. Although he was a member of no church, he contributed liberally to the upkeep of his wife's church, always desiring, however that his giving remain unknown.

DEATH-OBITUARY: Neosho Man Succumbs to Injuries
NEOSHO, MO - Charles A. North, 77, Neosho, route 4, died at 3 a.m. Thursday [10 Jul 1975] at Sale Memorial Hospital as the result of injuries received in an accident at 6;30 p.m. Wednesday in Newton County on highway 71 alternate, three miles south of Neosho, according to the highway patrol.The patrol said North, the driver of the vehicle, applied his vehicle's brakes while approaching a bridge. The vehicle slid on the wet pavement striking the northwest end of the bridge, the patrol said. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Clark Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Bradley officiating. Burial will be in the Neosho I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Mr. North was born Aug, 1, 1897, in Neosho and had been a lifetime resident of the community. He was retired, having formerly operated a fuel and ice business and later a gravel business. He was a charter member of the Neosho Senior Citizen's Club and the Neosho Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the American Legion (a World War I veteran). He was a former city councilman and member of the Newton County Highway Commission.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ava North; three brothers, Dick North, Bob North and Bill North, Neosho, and two sisters, Mrs. Helen Dougan, Neosho, and Mrs. Alice Garner, Atlanta, Ga.

OBITUARY: Excerpts from 2nd Obituary One of Neosho's most prominent citizens dies - - - He retired from business, but he never retired from Neosho, the town he worked in every day to keep clean and beautiful.As far back as 1963, he was noted for having done as much or more than any one person to make and keep Neosho beautiful and along with the Chamber of Commerce helped prepare a scrapbook of material which was used to win a citation for the city in the nation-wide Cleanest Town Award. Following this award many local residents affectionately called him "Mr. Clean".
On March 2, 1970, the Neosho City Council passed Resolution 342 commending Mr. North for his "Service to the city". the resolution stated in part that it was made to Mr. North for his contributions in keeping Neosho clean and beautiful and was signed by Mayor Wayne C. Insco. At this time Mr. North was cited for having designed the flower box container trash can that are used around the square.

She graduated from Neosho High School and had attended business college. She had been secretary at Farm Bureau for many years. She also worked as a secretary for Frank Reed, a local businessman. She was a homemaker.
She married Charles A. North on June 28, 1928, in Neosho. He preceded her in death on July 10, 1975.
She is survived by a sister, Daisy Mahin, Neosho, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the IOOF cemetery, with Rev. Clement Graham officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice through the Clark Funeral Home.

He came to Seattle in 1911, and lived at 5663 11th Avenue Northeast.
He is survived by a son, Richard C. Conger of Detroit, Mich., and a niece, Mrs. W.Y. Henry of Tacoma. Mrs. Conger died three years ago.
